Strategic Planning for the Foundation
With the change of leadership and the trying times we face, the Board conducted a strategic review at our November meeting. We used a self-directed system based on a program developed by BoardSource and the Aspen Institute. The program was completed online so that the results could be presented and discussed. Here were the conclusions:
1. We must review policy to ensure funds are designated properly
2. We need financial reports that are clear with a set of key indicators
3. Mission and responsibilities should be reviewed and understood
4. The Board wants a report on grant effectiveness from the Fraternity
5. Committee structure needs to be oriented to produce reports and results based on Mission and Outcomes
Here are the top three issues the Board identified:
1. How do we ensure decision-making balances mission, endowment, grant-making and impact?
2. Managing the endowment in adverse economic times
3. Increasing awareness of the work of the foundation with members
